It didn\u2019t take long for us to get swept up in the very active Swiss lifestyle. Exactly one day after we arrived, we were already participating in a local race along the Riviera\u2014Sheila running, while Cedar and I joined on scooter. Imagine a version of Vancouver\u2019s seawall, but even more spectacular: beautifully landscaped, dotted with sculptures and art installations, and yes\u2014even the iconic Freddie Mercury statue standing tall by the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a reason the Swiss are among the healthiest and longest-living people in the world: they move\u2014a lot. Whether it\u2019s hiking, biking, skiing, or just strolling the promenades, life here happens outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, someone who&#8217;s gradually settled into a more sedentary routine\u2014too many meetings, way too much screen time\u2014a Swiss alpine anti-screentime detox might be just what the doctor ordered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fun fact: We\u2019re just across the lake from France\u2014\u00c9vian-les-Bains, the birthplace of the world-famous Evian mineral water. But honestly? We don\u2019t need it. Here in Chernex, you can still fill your bottle straight from one of the many public, spring-fed fountains\u2014most dating back to the mid-1800s. And Cedar?
